Bonswa Legba
I am thrilled to announce that Badji Photography will feature a photo in the November 2024 edition of Artist Closeup Magazine! The photo is titled "Bonswa Legba." During the summer of 2023, Badji Photography had the privilege of traveling to Benin, West Africa, with Rara Tou Limen and the group leader, Zetwal Ashade Bon Manbo, also featured in the photo.
Before we began our journey throughout Benin, it was essential for us to pay our respects to Legba and seek his blessings for our travels, as well as to learn about Vodoun's history in the country. In the photo, you will see the Manbo saluting Legba and making an offering, asking for his blessing to continue our journey throughout Benin. And yes, we received those blessings!
The focus of this photo is to emphasize that, regardless of which branch of African Traditional Religion (ATR) one follows, it is vital to keep traditions alive and show respect as if they were your own.
